Nagpur: Most water pipelines have been laid inside sewage lines and storm water drains. The pipelines have rusted and developed leaks in many places. The sewage and drain water enters the pipeline when there is no water supply, thus contaminating the drinking water.

NAGPUR: In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that drinking water pipelines have been laid inside sewage lines and also storm water drains at some places in the city. This is said to be the main reason for the contaminated water supply in parts of Central and North Nagpur.
"Citizens from Santosh Nagar, Mehboobpura, Pandey ki Basti, Yogi Arvind Nagar, Sarwarabad, Hamid Nagar, Sangham Nagar and Yashodhara Nagar have been worst affected. Most water pipelines in these areas have been laid inside sewage lines and storm water drains. The pipelines have rusted and developed leaks in many places. The sewage and drain water enters the pipeline when there is no water supply, thus contaminating the drinking water. The first water received when supply resumes is yellowish. Some areas also get blackish water when supply resumes," he said.
